Located 60 minutes drive north of Los Angeles, and midway between Malibu and Santa Barbara, Channel Islands Harbor is drawing increasing attention along California's Gold Coast. Casa Serena is dramatically situated at the south end of the inner finger of the harbor.
Initial concept and market feasibility studies anticipate the repositioning of one hotel, and the rebuilding of another. The smaller hotel will be reconfigured as a lower-budget 95-room Hampton Inn, while Casa Serena will be rebuilt as a 175-room Three-Star DoubleTree Hotel.
The scale and character of the new hotels will fit the low-slung and relaxed Channel Islands regional ambience. The famed Lobster Trap restaurant will eventually be replaced, opening the opportunity for future site reorganization. The objectives of the longer-range disposition and design of public spaces will be to improve sailing facilities, stimulate informal retail activity and weekend markets, establish a setting for outdoor cultural performances, and celebrate the marine environment.
